NEW RELEASE October 2024
“... a benchmark for the variety. This must surely be one of the country's most decorated gewürztraminers”
Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review
Released in October 2024 the Johanneshof Gewürztraminer 2024 shines in the glass with its pale straw colour. The floral bouquet of honeysuckle, rose petals and violets is underpinned with aromas of white stone fruit and pears. Extremely powerful on the nose and palate, it features a weighty mouth feel and stunning tropical fruit characters. Nuances of peaches and mangos grace the palate with gorgeously floral tones of roses and Turkish delight.
Beautifully textured and well balanced with some natural sweetness. This unctuous wine seduces with its elegance and power. It’s well deserving of its name – this German variety ‘Gewürztraminer’ translates to ‘Spicey Traminer” - its spiciness most notable in its smooth, lingering finish.
This makes it the perfect accompaniment to Asian cuisine, hearty dishes, or your favourite cheese board.

“This beauty consistently ranks among New Zealand's greatest gewürztraminers. Hand-picked in the Wairau Valley it is powerful, with a perfumed, spicy, vaguely honeyed bouquet. Rich and smooth, it has deep stonefruit and spice flavours, a hint of honey, a gentle splash of sweetness, and fresh acidity keeping things lively. It's already delicious.
