JOHANNESHOF Methode Traditionnelle NEW DAWN ROSÉ 2011 is named after a pale pink rose in our courtyard. NEW DAWN displays a beautiful salmon pink colour with a very fine mousse and persistent effervescence. The distinctive fragrance of strawberry and peach is flinty with subtle hints of crab apple, followed by toasty brioche notes, a result of its extended time on lees. This crisp rosé is full bodied and its multi-layered palate harmoniously entwines fruitiness with delicate yeasty, nutty autolysis notes. Ten years on lees are unusually long and result in this extraordinary wine’s perfect satin texture and fine, lengthy finish and effervescence.

WINEMAKING & VITICULTURE

Made from 100 % Marlborough Pinot Noir. Hand harvested March 2011, Bottled (Tiraged) March 2013 followed by secondary fermentation in the bottle, the Johanneshof NEW DAWN spent ten years on lees (with its yeast) before being hand riddled in Johanneshof’s underground cellar prior to disgorging in August 2023, giving the Johanneshof NEW DAWN ten years on lees. Newly released October 2023

"Newly released, this is a sophisticated textural rosé made from 100% Pinot Noir. Johanneshof Cellars – whose underground cellars are located on the road to the Picton ferry – is a tiny, very hands-on producer passionate about sparkling wines. Toasty rather than bready autolysis, red apple, peach and strawberry yoghurt, this is honeyed and complex with a weighty, textural palate that has a pleasing roundedness. Good balance and a clean dry finish, this is one to savour. 10 years on lees.
Drinking Window: 2023 – 2033"
